Another awesome day shooting target, field and clout! Forgot my quiver and all that usually comes with it (tab, arrow puller, pens, tassel, knife, pouch…) but luckily Michelle and Mark came to the rescue! My flatmate Nikki was Lady P and both Craig and Gav got to show off their new ’3D Appreciation Society’ T-Shirts [...]

Posted: 12/03/2012 in Archery, Barebow, GNAS Shoots, Target ArcheryThis weekend I took part in a fancy dress shoot hosted by RN Southcoast Archery Club. Not quite sure what the charity was but there were plenty of people there and so hopefully a lot of money was raised. The round was a Stafford – 72 arrows at 30m indoors. First time of attempting it [...]
Yay!!! Red Tassel for clout archery ahoy!
Posted: 07/03/2012 in Archery, Barebow, Clout Archery, GNAS ShootsIt seems I’ve leapt over another colour award and gone straight to red! Background: I’m a rubbish clout archer and decided I wanted to get better. In clout archery you are awarded tassels for achieving a certain score. I had a black tassel from my first clout (ooo 2-3 years ago?) and from a practice [...]
Clout Archery – 2012 will be better!
Posted: 11/01/2012 in Archery, Barebow, Clout Archery, Club Shoots, GNAS Shoots, TechniqueSo some of you may have read my previous posts about my lame attempts of clout archery. It was slowly getting better then field archery took over massively during 2011 and I didn’t get round to doing any clout comps at all. Anyway – I had my first practice in years on the 2nd of [...]

British Barebow Champs 2011
Posted: 25/11/2011 in Barebow, Club Shoots, Field Archery, GNAS Shoots, Target ArcheryThis weekend will be my second go at the BBCs (http://www.archerygb.org/members/tournaments/entryforms/barebow_championships.php) I had an awful shoot last year and didn’t even make it to 400! My handicap suggests that I should be shooting around 420. Never-the-less I managed to come 19th in Britain and 49th in the World but I really hope to do better! [...]
South West Challenge 2011
Posted: 15/08/2011 in Archery, Barebow, Field Archery, NFAS Shoots, PrimitiveThis was one of the highlights of the year last year, so I was very excited about this one too! The wonderful Penrose families ( Ken & Kay, Mike & Helen) kindly invited us to join them on their travels around the various campsites and evening get-togethers which made it even more fun. In fact, [...]
Which bow should I shoot at the NFAS Nationals?
Posted: 08/08/2011 in Archery, Barebow, Field Archery, Flatbow, NFAS Shoots, PrimitiveVotes please! Can’t decide? I’ve lost my Barebow form, and always have so much fun shooting primitive (although I don’t shoot it that well) Plus I never really gave AFB a chance either? Hmmm just wondered what you guys think… Sam x
Ouch – no fun being sore :(
Posted: 14/06/2011 in Archery, Archery FAIL, Barebow, Flatbow, GNAS Shoots, Target ArcheryFor the first time ever I had to stop and retire from a competition. It was the worst feeling in the world. I had accepted the fact that I’d have to shoot a bow not designed for target archery (as I couldn’t pull my recurve), but I didn’t want to ever not finish. This weekend [...]
I was rather worried about this as I’d been playing a lot with my primitive bow – totally preparing for the worst! But we were to be shooting with Andy & Lorraine Miles so I knew I’d have a lovely day regardless. Andy, along with Mike and Hugh, were wearing their ‘We (Usually) Win Bugger [...]
