Goals

I’ve pretty much just been bumbling along enjoying myself and not focussing too much on what I could really achieve if I put my mind to it.

This year I had a few coaching sessions with a Sport Psychology student (Adam) who has really helped me to stay calm and focussed – even when everything else is falling down around me! Due to his help I have vastly improved my technique and have recently been thinking about what goals to set myself.

You can follow my progress online via my ePortfolio

  • Get a National Ranking for outdoor target archery.
To do this I need to submit my best scores from 3 FITAs, 2 FITA 70s and an Head-to-Head Olympic round. All of them have to be UK Record Status events.
  • Get my Master Bowman classification.
I need to score the following at at least 3 Record Status shoots:
    - 693 for a Hereford (6 dozen at 80 yards, 4 dozen at 60 yards and 2 dozen at 50 yards) 144 arrows
    - 788 for a Ladies FITA (3 dozen at 70m, 3 dozen at 60m, 3 dozen at 50m and 3 dozen at 30m) 144 arrows
  • Get my Grand Master Bowmen classification (goal for 2013)
I need to score the following at at least 3 Record Status shoots:
    - 752 for a Hereford (6 dozen at 80 yards, 4 dozen at 60 yards and 2 dozen at 50 yards) 144 arrows
    - 845 for a Ladies FITA (3 dozen at 70m, 3 dozen at 60m, 3 dozen at 50m and 3 dozen at 30m) 144 arrows
  • Achieve a Blue Tassel Award for Clout
I need to score over 100 points to claim for one
  • Achieve a Red Tassel Award for Clout
I need to score over 125 to claim for one
  • Get a place on the County team
This is tricky. The county in which my club is registered does not support barebow as a bowstyle on its team. For this reason I have started to shoot for my closest club Southampton Archery Club and Hampshire does have a barebow place in its team. It may take a while as I am registered for GNAS under Dorset and Wilts but could hopefully move across to Hampshire in the near future.
